AmsterDAMN
Good Morning…
I forgot to take a photo this morning, mostly because I have been watching these puppies go crazy. You know what else is crazy, I have never been on one of this canal boats in Amsterdam. I really should do that sometime.
I pretty much just walk the same 10 blocks every time I am here. On this trip, this is the only dutch windmill I see.
I am pretty sure this art class was all drawing portraits of me.
Until I turned around… Look kids De Big Ben. Really, that is how you translate Big Ben to Dutch.
I was very aware. I did not see any.
I had been thinking about how it is strange how often I happen to look at buildings and realize that right above street level there are all kinds of interesting things that we miss every day. Look at this little dude.
Or all of these guys.
Just peaking out, trying to be noticed.
Beautiful details missed in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
I wish that my house could have stone details. Anyone a mason?
I could see little babies hanging out under the eaves of my house.
A big stone scene on the roof. I can see my roof from the plane when I am coming home. I wish there was just a huge stone scene up there next time I am coming into Seatac.
The first trip to Amsterdam, we didn’t have a lot to do. The other band was doing press all day in a building across the canal from here. We came up with a perfect little triad. We would sit around this box and drink beer.
That we had bought from a store a little ways walk from the box.
And then we would walk to this public urinal. I can’t show you a picture of it, because it is gone. It thought maybe all of them were gone, but I found one later. But it was a great way to spend a day. This statue was close to where the urinal was. I don’t remember it being there before. Maybe they don’t like to put statues near urinals, so they had to tear it down.
This is one of my favorite things about Amsterdam. You get to put your money in, and out comes a fried breaded tube of meat paste. Yum Febo!
Seriously everywhere people are stoked about our election. It took a while for me to post anything after the election. I just didn’t know what to say. I have noticed that most of my friends took a break, trying to come up with the perfect way to explain what it felt like.
This was in Dublin.
I am going to just say this. I had this on my computer for a long time. It was a countdown of the day Bush would no longer be president. It was the goal.
It has now been replaced by this, because this is the real deal. It isn’t that Bush will no longer be president. Shit, anyone of the crazy republicans there were running would have been better than Bush being president. It is the fact that we are going to have a person that I truly feel l will do well as president as PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
