England swings like a …
I have to admit, the morning was not so good. This is the first of 4 or 5 performances depending on how you break down a performance for the band. Up at 7:30am. BBC Radio 6. It went great.
Next we went to XFM, and did an acoustic session with no drums. I was told more than once that it was going to be acoustic so we couldn’t use the drums. We used 1 electric bass guitar that we played thru a bass pod. We used 2 electric guitars that were played thru guitar pods and we used a 707 drum machine. Every single thing except the drums were NOT ACOUSTIC.
Then we went to soundcheck, and loaded everyting into the Astoria. Then we went to Rough Trade loading out of the Astoria. Then back to the Astoria for the show. Afterwards it was time for a little relaxation. Jonnie looks tiny in my clothes.
Rich was happy to be home, if only for a few minutes. He was filling in for Jeff, and is from London.
Matt bought me two ciders at once, I didn’t want either to get jealous.
Cherry and Nadja showed up. That was a great time. I miss touring with them. Cherry filled her bag with everything that I wasn’t going to take from the dressing room. Then complained that her bag was to heavy to carry.
And look kids, Big Ben.
