Stowe, VT – Burton Fall Bash
This is the view from my private deck at The Grey’s Inn in Stowe, VT.
For the bicentennial celebration of Abe’s birthday, this Lincoln Memorial replica was installed into O’hare Airport. They say it is 1/2 size, I guess the one in DC is not as big as I remember it.
This had a bunch of writing to go along with it. It was something about how they managed to sketch something on a concave surface that looks correct in its perspective or something.
For such a big airport, I have never really been into the food selection at O’hare. Give me Terminal 5 at JFK or SEATAC any day of the week. I ended up having a cheese burger with gross guacamole at Fox Sports Sky Box. Not the same as Fox Sports Grill in Seattle, although I haven’t been there since I heard they got rid of the Banana Bread Pudding.
The Grey Fox Inn rents bikes, and while they are not a bike shop, they really need to do a little work on getting their bikes in shape. My rear wheel looked like a floppy frisbee. Nate had to stop and take a phone call, while the rest of us road along on this awesome bike path.
It was about 2 miles from the hotel to downtown Stowe. It was a bustling town.
Stowe is the Fall Color Capitol of THE WORLD.
And just like that, we rode out of town. It had recently flooded, not the town but the area, so the bike path was covered with mud. We chose to ride the main road back to the hotel.
And then after the mud we were back on the path. Trying to make our way all the way up the mountain to the gondola ride. We didn’t make it, and stopped at this pagoda instead.
I worked on my band photography.
The airlines lost almost all of our gear. They didn’t find it until we got back to the airport in the morning to fly home. This is soundcheck in Jake and Donna Burton’s garage. It is located in the basement of a barn. We had no drumsticks, until someone raided the game room and brought us a pair of RockBand drumsticks.
Once the party got going, it really got going. This was a private party at a private house. This is what the adult catering area looked like. There was a seperate catering just for kids. The three roasted whole pigs kind of made me go crazy, I ate pork all day and night.
Inside the green room, we were shown this stash of fireworks.
One of everything Burton released in the 2010-2011 season.
This is about 1/5 of the coats that were on display. In the background you can kind of see the boards.
Then back to Seattle. First class all the way. Well not really all the way. Just to Chicago.
Put I will take it. I will take whatever I can get.
